K's Design: Interactive chair

A chair which invites the user through its physical form, and then closes when sat on to create a sense of intimacy.

This is an example of the object having an 'agenda'. Do i want my interactive object to 'want' to be interacted with? Should it facilitate when necessary, or should it actively invite the user?

Actuators have been used in conjunction with sensors. It is a very unusual object: do i want mine to blend in??

INTERACTIVE CHAIR 2008

The goal of this project was to design a chair and build a full scale prototype within five weeks. The concept of my chair was the experience of the person taking a seat. Firstly the chair invites the person to sit down through its open form. When one does so the leaves will slowly close around him to create a space of privacy. When leaving the leaves will slowly open up again, inviting the next peson to take a seat.
