Survey Feedback

Feedback results are sumarised below. Since the purpose of this survey was to collect a range of responses instead of collect proof to support a thesis, survey demographics are not as important.

Male: 33%
Female: 67%

DIARY SECTION

66% kept a diary and this was split 50-50 between facts and emotions. Only 25% added any king of media, but this could have been because of the inconvenience of ding so. 25% kept a public diary i.e. a blog.

One respondant said that 'Web based diary at my-diary.org. Its easy-a paper version is easy to frget, but with an e version alerts can be set up and you're on the computer anyway'

Another commented 'I keep a daily diary by hand and sometimes do little drawing or doodles. Sometimes i even stick in things like tickets from places.

People do like to keep memento's , but convenience seems to be a factor in it.

MEDIA SECTION

100% captured media in some form with places and events being the most popular subject matter (67% and 50% respectively). Photography was the most popular medium outright with 100%. However, one participant commented that 'I only use this because it is convenient'

Below are the responses for how media is shared

I sometimes upload it to facebook but i can rarely be bothered. I generally take photos on my phone which are automatically backed up onto my computer, but i dont often review them and if i do it is usually because ive accidentally come across a file.

There is definately a social slant to the distribution of mementos.

Initial feedback as to whether people thought they could benefit from 'letting go' of memories yielded a very positive response despite the 'how' not being explained whatsoever.

Treasured memories are largely about family, but also about friends.

What was most interesting was the lack of frequency that people actively review memto's of their experiences. Perhaps this could be because of the pure volume of memento's that are being kept, or even due to the fact that they simply want to hold onto memories 'just in case'.

It was important to see different ways in which people hold onto memories, but stepping forwards exploration of contexts where people can see a presence indication system fitting into their lives will be conducted next.
