Goals achieved: Focus group, context of use verification, completion of stage 2 prototyping in the spiral model, requirements capture, user base, context of use, stage 3 prototype development, Manual & Website development.
The last two weeks have involved prototype development and user testing as well as the development of accompanying materials i.e. a manual. A pilot test was conducted prior to the focus group which was extremely useful and a version 2 prototype was developed from this to use this to focus group. Informed consent forms were used to address ethical concerns as well as to inform participants. A question sheet was utilised to guide the discussion and to keep notes. The presentation of the project has also been considered.
As well as the development work, the contextual report has been worked on.
Goals for next week: Complete & Test stage 3 prototype, evaluate manual & website with techniques i.e. user testing, participatory design & heuristics (normans 7 principles), usability & experience goals. Do a user test where a user is given nothing but the manual & the object and is observed. Use the Goetz & LeCompte framework.
